Hiking & Walking

Hiking is the most popular way around the world to get to know a new place and connect with the environment in an active and environmentally sustainable manner. But which hike to choose when you go to another country? And what will you see there? How best to prepare?

These doubts are all solved thanks to the team of Mojo Picón Aventuras, offering guided tours that have been highly recommended due to their great service to customers and extensive knowledge of the area of their local guides.

Gran Canaria, like all the islands of the archipelago, offers great diversity in its natural landscape, with green valleys, high viewing points with sightings of the Atlantic and other islands, pine forests and endemic flora and fauna. The guides of this centre have prepared 3 unique tours to show you what they have valued as the best natural routes in the south, west and north of Gran Canaria – now you only have to choose which one or ones you want to enjoy!

Three Hiking Experiences:

  • Ruta de los Azulejos:
This circular trail in the west of the island is characterized by the multi-coloured volcanic formations that look a bit like tiles. You will pass through the natural park of Inagua with its wide forest of pine trees and ravines full of water. The track is stone paved for most of the way, with a total ascent of 600m altitude, ideal for hikers looking for a medium level of difficulty.
Total duration is of 3.5 hours and 8km long. Departures: Tuesdays from 09:00-15:00.
  • Ruta Centro:
This route is practically mandatory for any visitor to Gran Canaria as it crosses the symbolic Roque Nublo. It is a circular hike of low/easy level, with 176m ascent and spectacular views from the different stops.
Total duration is of 2.5 hours and 6km long. Departures: Mondays and Wednesdays from 09:00-15:00.
  • Ruta del Agua:
Here the highlight is the abundance of water – a circular route designed to demonstrate the history of the different perforations on the island made to reach drinking water. You will learn in several stops all about mines and wells, whilst you enjoy a change in the local landscape due to being on the north, green and humid side of the island. There will be a difference of 400m altitude and this hike is of a medium level.
Total duration is of 3.5 hours and 7.5km long. Departures: Tuesdays from 09:00-15:00.

You will also have at your disposal on these routes walking sticks, necessary insurance, photos of the excursion and a lovely picnic of fresh fruits, chocolates, cookies and water included.
